Our review of Tropenmuseum

Culture from distant countries

The Tropenmuseum focuses on the culture of tropical countries. South America, Africa, South-East Asia and Middle East are discussed. The former Dutch colonies such as Indonesia and Suriname occupy an important place.

Fantastic building

The building of the Tropenmuseum is from 1920 and both inside and out very beautifully. The spacious layout you do not get the feeling to walk from room to room as in a traditional museum.

Interesting exhibition

There are many and special objects in the Tropenmuseum. An overview of different music instruments and the ability to listen to it digitally or a re-created Mexican Café. Many art, artifacts, video and audio material make the exhibition alternating, interesting and entertaining.

where is the 'red thread '?

By the many different articles a 'red thread ' seems to be missing in the exhibition. It’s not bad, but you get quite a lot of impressions. And it is nice to be able to place them in a larger whole. There is still some work to do by the Tropenmuseum. Most visitors are very satisfied. Give yourself the time for this museum. There is a separate children's museum for children from approximately 6 years old.
