Our review of Rijksmuseum
Small portion of the collection is exhibited
The Rijksmuseum is the national museum of Netherlands. A small portion of the Rijksmuseum is open, because of the renovation that lasts until april 13 2013. This has a negative impact on a visit to the museum with the biggest and best art collection of Netherlands. Namely you see only a small portion of the huge collection.
The 200 best working
The 200 best pieces from the 17th century are exhibited in the Rijksmuseum. The 17th century is flowering period of Netherlands. Both in the economy as in painting. The displayed pieces are all of top quality. You see, among other things, the famous paintings ‘NightWatch’ from Rembrandt and ‘the milkmaid’ from Vermeer. But also totally different kind of pieces such as a unique Dolls House.
There is not much line in the construction of this ' best of ' exhibition of the Rijksmuseum. The small space and many visitors gives a ‘crowdy’ feeling. And when leaving the building there is still a bit of a feel cheated present. However, it is about the content, so if you can look through these disadvantages...
