Our review of Rembrandthuis

The House of painter Rembrandt

This is the house where 17th century painter Rembrandt van Rijn (known from the NightWatch) lived and worked for almost 20 years. The Rembrandt House is furnished in original state as much as possible. The visitor will get a good picture of the living and working environment of the famous painter. For example, you can see his bedroom, kitchen and workshop. Few interior pieces are original because the painter was declared bankrupt at the end of his career. The original inventory is sold and is no longer present.

Two Rembrandt paintings present

In the Rembrandthuis are also paintings of his disciples and contemporaries is shown. There are only two paintings of the old master himself shown. To see his paintings, you can better go to the Rijksmuseum. In the modern annex of the museum are the highlights of his etchings shown. Interesting is the demonstration how an etching is created.

Sometimes what boring

The Rembrandthuis is sometimes a bit boring. But also offers enough attention to resume. The Rembrandthuis is definitely nice to have seen, but not worth the detour.
