Beautiful Gothic church. Enough reasons for a visit, despite the sober character.

Our review of Oude kerk

Church in the middle of the red light district

The location of the old church in the middle of the red light district of Amsterdam feels strange. Opposite the House of God shows the scantily clad ladies behind the windows. No reason for not visiting this church.

Beautiful, sober character

The old church is a beautiful gothic church. Much of the interior is destroyed during the iconoclastic in the 17th century, which the church has received a sober character. There are plenty of beautiful parts remaining, so the old church is worth a visit. Admire the stained glass Windows, the organs and the choir screen. After entry gets you two laminated sheets which give you an explanation. Pity that the admission price is relatively high.
